Anthems at First Church (Reformed), Albany, NY
Arranged Alphabetically by Composer
by Cliff Lamere, begun 26 Dec 2009; this revision 4 Feb 2010

The table below extends far off the screen to the right. Be sure to check all data for an anthem.
The works of some foreign composers could only be found in their native language.
Anthems are arranged alphabetically by composer's last name. For each anthem, I have tried to find videos on YouTube, and choral parts on CyberBass (pronounced sigh-ber-base). If nothing was found, an anthem is marked wih xx. Cyberbass concentrates on major classical works, so most of our anthems will not be included on that website. In addition, many of our anthems have not yet been added to the YouTube collection.
On YouTube, there is usually a description of the video (who is singing, what they are singing, etc.). That can be found just to the right of the video, but the explanation is often longer than the box can hold. If the write-up ends in three dots ( ... ), click on "(more info)" near the top left of the box to see the remaining text.
Other worthwhile music video resources discovered today are:
1) Vimeo which in Jan 2010 has 74,000 music videos.
2) Metacafe not very good except famous composers
3)
As time permits, I will search there for videos of our anthems, and I'll also search elsewhere for audio files.
Life dates of a composer were found in a Schwann Opus catalog or by searching for online biographies.
In a long table, it is inconvenient to return repeatedly to the top to see the column headings. Since the compositions are arranged alphabetically by composer, I have put the column headings every 4-5 screens apart. The headings are colored so that they are easy to locate. Just hit your Page Up key until you see the headings, view the headings, then hit the Page Down key the same number of times to return to your original position.
Also see a tentative schedule of anthems to be sung at Sunday services.
Your assistance is needed.
1) My choice of videos should be good for sopranos and basses, but I can't pick out the alto and tenor voices very well. If people from those voice ranges find a video that demonstrates their part better than something I provided, please send me the link.
2) With the anthem in front of me, I listen to the beginning of the anthem on YouTube to make sure it is the right one. If we have an arrangement of a work, I listen long enough to feel sure that the video is the same as our arrangement. However, sometimes an arrangement is made for a work that we have in its original form. I won't know that an arrangement has been made, so I may not notice that the video is different in some ways from our sheet music. Please tell me if you know that the video is not identical to the anthem we own.
3) Please let me know if you find a broken link so that I can substitute something else.
