She taught children in Sierra Leone, Africa, prior to its civil war (The movie "Blood Diamond" was made about Sierra Leone). After she returned home, Jeanne still remembered the children in Sierra Leone. Some of you may have wondered why you saw her riding her bike or walking alone along roadsides. She wasn't homeless; she did this for a purpose. She was collecting discarded bottles so that she could send the deposit money proceeds to her former students in Sierra Leone. To her it was a twofer; she was cleaning the environment and she was helping the needy. That was Jeanne. A service will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 428 Kenwood Avenue, Delmar, New York at 2 p.m. on November 18, 2011. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, please make a donation to the First United Methodist Church of Delmar.
